If you’re deciding whether to purchase a new alarm clock or whether to use the alarm function on your smartphone, simply continue reading to discover some of the benefits associated with opting for an old-school alarm clock.
Why alarm clocks are still important over smart phones:
1. If you rely on using your smart phone as an alarm clock you may be bothered by smart phone alerts
If you set an alarm on your smart phone and leave your phone’s volume on so that your phone’s alarm will wake you up in the morning, there is a high chance that you’ll be woken up from your slumber every time a text or social media notification pops up on your phone. So if you don’t want to have your sleep disturbed by frequent notifications, it’s well worth choosing a traditional alarm clock over a smart phone alarm.
2. It’s not healthy to become dependent on your phone
It’s not a wise idea to get used to having your phone with you in bed as you may be tempted to continually check your phone for new messages and notifications. Whereas if you place your phone in your drawer and rely on a regular alarm clock to wake you up, you’ll be sure to enjoy a more restful night’s sleep. As recent scientific studies have shown that individuals who sleep without their smart phones nearby, enjoy better quality sleep than individuals who make a habit out of sleeping with their smart phone next to them or in their hands.
3. It’s far easier to tell the time on a real alarm clock
In order to tell the time on your smart phone, you’ll have to locate your phone and press a button on the side of your smart phone in order to see what the current time is. Better yet, if you wake up in the early hours of the morning and want to know what the time is you’ll simply have to look at your alarm clock in order to see the time displayed in LED lights.
Whilst if you want to check the time on your smart phone in the dark, you’ll have to fumble around in the dark to try and find your smart phone. Worse yet, you may have to try and unlock your smart phone with your fingerprint or with a four-digit code.
4. You don’t have to worry about a traditional alarm clock running out of battery
If you choose to use your smart phone, as an alarm clock, you’ll have to worry about your smart phone running out of battery overnight. Which means that if you’re not careful and are too lazy to keep your smart phone fully charged before bed, your smart phone may run out of battery overnight.
Whereas if you utilize a traditional alarm clock which is battery operated or which plugs into an electrical socket, you won’t have to worry about your alarm clock turning off in the middle of the night. Or being late to work because your alarm failed to ring.
So it’s well worth opting for a regular alarm clock over an alarm clock on your smart phone.
