While many people go on vacation to enjoy themselves some people like to refrain from over-indulging and are happy to use their vacation to help them stay in shape. Once they have booked their hawaii beach rentals these exercise-loving people look for ways to keep fit, keep those unwanted pounds off, and generally make the most of their time in the sun.
So how can you stay in shape on your Hawaiian vacation and still enjoy tasting some of those sumptuous local dishes? we’ll show you how:
Travel Everywhere by Bicycle
Travelling everywhere by bicycle is a great way for you to work off last night’s dinner. What’s more is travelling around the islands is a great way to see them. Hopping on a bicycle rather than a bus means you can set off when you want, without having to rely on public transport. Make sure you take plenty of water with you on your bike ride, and always take a tire repair kit and a helmet with you too. Cycling is a great way for you to burn off those calories while having a lot of fun.
Enjoy a Spot of Yoga
Enjoying a spot of yoga on one of Hawaii’s many beautiful beaches is something you must do. If you’re well-versed in yoga you may want to head to the beach early in the morning as there aren’t many people around then. Alternatively, you may want to head to one of the many yoga classes that take place almost every day. You’ll find yoga studios dotted around each of the islands so be on the lookout for them so you can enjoy yoga in the company of locals and visitors alike.
Take up Kayaking
Kayaking can be a lot of fun but it can also give your upper body a bit of a workout too. Many different water-sports companies operate on the Big Island and the surrounding islands. You’re bound to find at least one instructor who is happy to take you out on the water. Please note, if the winds are high then you may have to give kayaking a miss until they settle down. However when the winds are not as strong be prepared to head out onto the water and have a great time while you work on your upper body.
Go for a Swim
Going for a swim is a great way for you to work on your whole body without even realising. Swimming is also a great way to help you recover from injury as the water puts absolutely no pressure on your limbs. Whether you’ve rented a villa that comes with a pool or you like to swim in the ocean heading out into the water and having a swim is a very effective way for you to stay in shape.
Hit the Gym
Hawaii and its surrounding islands are home to quite a few gyms, and they tend to be full of both locals and visitors who like to stay in shape. Why not head to one of the many gyms in the area and get a full body workout? Full to the brim of some of the latest exercise equipment around the local gyms are an ideal destination if the weather has taken a turn for the worse. The good news is that most of the gyms here allow you to pay per visit so you can just turn up when you wish and get to work.
If you like to workout relatively undisturbed you may want to head to the gym as soon as it opens as there are usually fewer people around.
Go on a Hike
If you enjoy going on a hike then you’re going to love your Hawaiian vacation. Hawaii is simply full of hiking trails and a volcano crater that is just waiting for you to visit it. Walk up to the summit in Haleakala National Park and spend all day on the trail making sure you’re at the summit in time to see the magnificent night sky. With more than 30 miles of trails that take you some incredibly beautiful spots, you can work your lower body and your abdominal muscles by enjoying a hike or two while you’re on your vacation.
Enjoy a Run Along the Beach
If you like going for a run as often as you can then you’ll enjoy spending time running along one of Hawaii’s beautiful beaches. Enjoy a run early in the morning as the beaches tend to be quieter then and spend time making your way across one of the world’s most beautiful beaches. Make sure you keep an eye out for humpback whales and sea turtles while you run, they really are quite extraordinary and will help to make your run even more enjoyable.
Staying in shape while you’re on vacation is entirely possible if you’re lucky enough to visit Hawaii. Hire a bicycle and make your way around the islands, enjoy a spot of yoga on the beach or at one of the local studios. Take up kayaking and head out onto the water, or head out into the water and go for a swim when the weather’s good. Don’t forget to hit the gym when it’s raining outside, and make use of the equipment without having to pay very much for it. While you’re in the area you may as well go for a hike and get your legs moving while you make your way to the summit so you can enjoy the night sky. Finally, take a run along one of the many beautiful beaches and work off that large meal you had the night before.
