3 Ways To Prepare Your Body For Moving Day

If you’re going to be moving from one home to another in the near future and you plan to do all of the heavy lifting yourself rather than hiring a trusted moving company to take care of this for you, there are a few things you might want to do beforehand to ensure that you won’t wind up hurt from all of the physicality of a move.

To help you with this, here are three ways to prepare your body for moving day.

Strengthen Your Muscles In The Weeks Prior

If you have weeks before your move is to take place, now is the time to start prepping your body so that you have the strength and stamina to make it through your move. By preparing well before you need to do any heavy lifting, you’ll be sure that you’re trained your body well enough to handle everything that you’re going to dish out to it on moving day.

To start, make sure you focus on strengthening your core. This is where a lot of your strength is going to come from when you’re moving heavy items, so you want to be sure that your core is solid. Along with this, it can also be helpful to work on your leg muscles so that you can lift with them rather than with your back muscles.

Focus On Food And Hydration

In the few days leading up to your move, and especially on the day of your move, you’ll want to properly feed and hydrate your body so that you have the energy you need to work hard all day long.

Ideally, you should try to eat a breakfast that is high in protein and good fats, as this will help strengthen your muscles and give you energy that will last longer into the day. Additionally, if you’re going to be working hard with your move and getting hot and sweaty, you’ll want to make sure you’re drinking more than your normal amount of daily water so that you can keep up with your hydration.

Stretch and Warm-Up The Day Of Your Move

Before you really get started on the day of your move, it’s going to be wise to spend some time warming up your body and stretching your muscles. The last thing you want to have happen early in the day of your move is for you to pull a muscle or get stressed or strained physically. So to avoid this, make sure you and anyone else who’s helping you with your move spends a few extra minutes getting loose and limber before carrying around anything that’s too heavy.

If you will be moving to a new home soon, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you prepare your body for taking on this move.
