Gravity blankets have become popular once it was revealed they tremendously help to deal with anxiety and enhance sleep quality. These gravity blankets, also known as weighted blankets, are filled with objects such as beads of polypropylene plastic or glass to give it more weight which produces a feeling of being hugged.

But, don’t expect that the first night of sleeping under a gravity blanket will provide you immediately with the best sleep of your life. The same way that stress accumulates inside our bodies bit by bit, you will need to be patient if you wish to see positive effects of this popular stress-relief method.

Sleeping benefits of a gravity blanket

We all know that sleep is vital for our physical, mental and emotional health. Not being able to fall asleep usually happens due to a recent event which made us feel uncomfortable in some way and made our bodies produce stress. But, when you have a sleep disorder, it means you have troubles falling asleep for a longer period. Unfortunately, this type of health issues will have a negative impact on your entire life, from the way you feel to the way you interact with others. Without sleep, you will struggle to make it through the day.

With a gravity blanket, a person will gradually improve the quality of its sleep. Due to the weight of a gravity blanket, a person will feel grounded and protected when lying in bed. Also, the weight will limit your movement during the night so you will be able to feel calm and comfortable during the night. As gravity blankets also have a positive impact on the mental health, the level of anxiety, depression or any other issue you might be facing, will decrease over time.

When we sleep well and long enough, we’re able to think more clearly, be physically stronger and react faster in different situations. According to the National Sleep Foundation, an adult person should sleep between 7 and 9 hours every day. To improve the quality of your sleep, they advise you to practice a relaxing bedtime ritual as it’s important to calm your body so you can fall asleep faster. A gravity blanket could be the relaxing bedtime ritual you need.

Focusing on your sleep

We’ve already mentioned that having a relaxing ritual before going to sleep helps you fall asleep faster, but there are also other methods you can practice to ensure you achieve the best results possible. Your gravity blanket will do its part during the night, but what can you do to ensure you sleep better and longer?

The body has its own mechanism. By determining your bedtime, you will accustom your body to feel ready for bed at a certain time. Low quality of sleep usually happens from not having a regular sleep schedule. Give your body the rest it deserves by sticking to the schedule you’ve created for yourself. Go to sleep at the same time in the evening and wake up at the same time in the morning.

Keep in mind that your body also needs to lose energy to feel tired enough in the evening. Start exercising daily. It doesn’t have to be an hour of exercising every day. You can combine different physical activities as long as you allow your body to have a reason to recharge at night. Having too much energy will negatively impact your sleeping schedule, so try to be active during the day.

Signs of quality sleep

One of the vital signs of quality sleep is waking up well-rested in the morning. You will notice you have more energy throughout the whole day. Also, your concentration will significantly improve as the quality of your sleep improves your focus and the way your brain functions in general. Don’t forget, your brain also needs its rest to perform better.

Another sign that will show you the level of your sleep is enhancing is falling asleep faster. You won’t need to spend hours turning and tossing in your bed before you finally manage to fall asleep. As your body is finding its own rhythm due to your sleep schedule, it will be prepared for sleep.

Conclusion

Don’t ignore the importance of good sleep as it’s vital for all aspects of your life. With gravity blankets, you will definitely enjoy longer and quality sleep. If you’re struggling with any sleep or mental health issue, be sure to get one for yourself as soon as possible. Don’t think of it as purchasing a product, think of it as investing in the quality of your life.
