Before you decide that you will move to a new office, you have to inform your employees first. They might not feel comfortable with the idea. Some of them accepted the job because it’s near where they live. Therefore, it’s crucial that you tell your employees about your plans, and why you decided to move.

End of tenancy

You have to explain that your tenancy is about to end, and you have to find a new place. Your business is growing, and you can’t stay in the same place anymore. It might feel crowded for everyone if you decide to remain in the same place. Besides, your company doesn’t have obligations with the landlord anymore. You’re free to search for another option.

Offer choices

Not everyone will feel okay about the idea of moving to a new office. For some, it might mean extra transportation costs. Therefore, you need to offer choices for those who don’t want to move due to valid reasons. You can give them a salary bump to cover the extra costs. For those who have to relocate, you can also help with their expenses. If some employees wish to resign, you need to give a reasonable leaving package. For employees residing close to each other, you can offer a company shuttle so that it won’t be a problem for them to go to work each day.

Allow enough time to move

If you have decided that it’s best for you to move to a new location, it’s time for you to announce the information to your employees. Give them enough time to pack their things. You’re also going to be moving all the computers and office furniture. Therefore, everyone needs time to deal with their files and store documents before moving.

Prepare the new office

It’s crucial that the new office is ready before moving in. You don’t want to delay business operations because the office isn’t ready yet. Check if the equipment is working well and the furniture is in good condition. Upon arrival, you want the employees to commence work right away. They already spent days packing their things, and they have to spend more time to unload their stuff. It’s going to delay everything if the office isn’t ready for your employees.

Orient the employees

You need to inform everyone about the new office and what they can find nearby. You can also talk about safety procedures. Everyone needs guidance from you. If you will be using new equipment, you also have to train the employees to use it properly.

Start over again

You’re now in a new office, and you have the chance to start over again. Forget about the terrible things that happened in the past. Try to work together to achieve the company’s goals.

Before you leave your old office, consider hiring experts in end of tenancy cleaning London offers, to ensure the space is in perfect condition before handing back the keys. Talk to the landlord and settle everything before leaving, so you can get your deposit back in full.
